"I had been putting off taking my driving lessons for about 8 years and spent all my birthday and christmas money from relatives, who thought they were contributing to my driving lessons, on booze and cigarettes. Finally deciding that it was to embarrassing being driven around by my girlfriend and sister, I got in contact with Ian Palmer. I was finding it hard to make time outside of work and could only really do early mornings on Saturday and one evening a week but Ian was very accommodating and always managed to find time for me even If it was late notice. He is way more patient than my scary girlfriend - which isn't saying much - but he is a very calm instructor and has a great way of guiding you through what I thought was really complex stuff. Our lessons were more like a few hours of chatting whilst on a tour of Leeds, and once you get over the initial nerves, everything clicks into place, somehow. In the end I passed the theory and practical first time and, as much as I would like to think it was all down to me, it probably had something to do with Ian as well."
